GM Recycling Collection Day
GM Components Holding LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of GM, is a company that is positioned to take people where they want to go. And where do we want to go, Rochester? That’s right, we want to go GREEN! And since GM is a business filled with diverse brands, it is no surprise to us that their version of a recycling collection event is just as diverse. On Wednesday, October 5th, GM will be pairing up with several partners, including yours truly, to host a Recycling Collection Day event. They will be collecting items varying from computers and small electronics, to clothes, bikes, musical instruments, and eyeglasses. This event will be held at GM's location on 1000 Lexington Ave, Rochester, N.Y., from 10am - 6pm and is open to all of the city of Rochester and county neighbors.
As part of the We-Cycle Donation Program, Sunnking will be donating to FoodLink based on the weight of electronics collected, so do the right thing for the environment and help Foodlink at the same time! Sunnking encourages people to bring electronics such as laptops & desktops, computer accessories, TV’s & monitors, audio/video equipment, mp3 players, communications equipment, servers & IT equipment, printers & scanners, copiers & fax machines, cell phones & PDA’s, medical/lab equipment, and anything else with a circuit board or cord. Please do not bring items containing Freon (air conditioners, de-humidifiers, refrigerators etc.), gas powered equipment, or household hazardous waste.
If you are unsure if your item is suitable, please check out or list of acceptable materials.
Other Item Information
For those of you looking to donate other items, GM is partnering with Imagine It to recycle cell phones and printer cartridges. Imagine It donates to Rochester’s United Way based on quantity collected. Lions Clubs and Time Worth Seeing will be there to put used eyeglasses to use. Lions Club fixes and cleans donated eyeglasses and then supplies them to their free clinics. Also, the Rochester Education Foundation is teaming up with GM to reuse musical instruments. REF repairs the instruments, and donates them to Rochester City schools. Goodwill will be onsite to collect clothing and textiles. All items collected by Goodwill will be reused at Goodwill locations or recycled. And finally, GM is collaborating with R Community Bikes to reuse adult and children bicycles, including bike parts. RCB repairs them for kids in need and adults in the Rochester area.
