Great Numbers To Report from 13WHAM & Zeller Corp E-Cycling Event!

Electronics Recycling Day 2011 with Sunnking, 13WHAM and Zeller Corporation on June 18th was a huge success! The numbers are finally in, and we are very pleased to announce them. This year at Electronics Recycling Day 2011, our team of Sunnking, 13WHAM and Zeller Corporation volunteers ended up collecting 273,153 pounds of e-scrap and raised almost $3,000 dollars to donate to the Wilmot Cancer Center!
Our goal for this year was to run the event with a higher efficiency (pounds of electronics collected per hour) while still collecting a comparable amount of e-scrap from the 2009 event. At the 2009 event, we collected 240,000 pounds of electronics. The 2011 event used a quarter of the manpower and only took place over one day at one location; the 2009 event occurred for two days at two different locations.
In 2009, volunteers ended up working for 26 hours at two locations and collected 240,000 pounds of e-waste. This year, we worked for only 6½ hours at one location and collected 270,000 pounds of e-waste. If you compare the hourly rates, we collected 42,000 pounds of electronics per hour in 2011; in 2009, 9,231 pounds were collected per hour. That is a 355% increase in lbs./hr. from the previous event!
For every pound of e-scrap collected at Electronics Recycling Day 2011, Sunnking donated to Foodlink courtesy of our We-Cycle Donation Program. The Zeller Corporation employees collected money for Wilmot Cancer Center at the event. They ended up collecting $2,850 dollars to generously donate to the hospital. So by recycling responsibly, the participants were helping individuals in need of medical care, feeding the hungry, and saving the environment.
A big thank you to all of the awesome volunteers from Sunnking, 13WHAM and Zeller Corporation as well as all of the Rochester residents for coming out to e-cycle on June 18th!
