RG&E Pays YOU For Recycling Your Fridge!

Unfortunately there are some everyday home appliances you can't recycle yourself without putting harmful materials into the environment. Refrigerators are one of those appliances; they contain hazardous materials such as Freon, CFCs, and HCFCs. If the Freon leaks from the refrigerator, it could be have poisonous effects on you and your family. CFCs and HCFCs, which are located in the foam insulation of the fridge, can permanently damage the ozone. (Sunnking primarily focuses on recycling electronics since other companies like RG&E specialize in recycling home appliances.)

But just because you can’t recycle them yourself doesn’t mean someone else can’t do it for you. RG&E is encouraging us to Rethink, Recycle, Reward. It was recently announced that RG&E will pick up your old refrigerator from your house for free to properly recycle it! If your refrigerator is on the older side, keeping it in your house could be costing you up to 150 dollars to keep it running. Properly recycling your old refrigerator will benefit the environment and you; RG&E will pay YOU for being green and recycling your old refrigerator! You’ll be 30 dollars richer just for being a little greener.

Check out RG&E’s website for more details about their other energy efficient programs. We’re giving RG&E a big green thumbs up for starting this great program!
