Stereo Advantage Recycling Collection A Success!

…big things happen!
This past Saturday, August 14th, Sunnking and Stereo Advantage combined forces in Williamsville, NY for a recycling event for the ages. Throughout the day, a combined collection of on and a half trailers was received, which is approximately 35,000 pounds! Woah! That’s a lot of used electronics!
So what’s next for these old electronics?
Ever wonder what happens to your old electronics after you give them up? The Brave Little Toaster may come to mind, but no, that’s not really what happens (sorry to disappoint). After being collected at an event like this past weekend’s, the first step is to test and see what can be re-purposed, and re-used. What if it can’t be fixed or re-used?
All remaining parts, components, and electronic pieces that can’t be rebuilt, re-purposed, or re-used in some manner are still valuable. They then go through our destruction process where they’re broken down to their most basic pieces, and then those individual metals and plastics are properly recycled.
The coolest part in this process is the machine that’s used to break down these components. Have you seen the Blendtec videos on YouTube? Imagine what they could blend with a machine like this!
This wasn’t the only event of its kind planned for this year. Be on the lookout for the next available collection event near you, and start setting aside a place in your basement or garage to store the electronics you no longer need (or the ones that no longer work). You’ll be doing yourself a big favor (by creating more space in your home or business), and you’ll be helping all of us out, by keeping unnecessary junk out of the landfill, and helping to keep our beautiful planet clean! :)
