Sunnking Cuts First Check For We-Cycle Donation Program!
Earlier this year, Foodlink and Sunnking teamed up to launch the We-Cycle Donation Program. This program doesn't only help save the environment by keeping ewaste out of our landfills, it also helps feed the hungry as well! Foodlink the Feeding America regional food bank is Sunnking's official charitable partner in Monroe County. For every electronics recycling collection event that Sunnking hosts in Monroe County, Foodlink receives a monetary donation based on the volume of e-scrap that is collected. Sunnking is very pleased to announce that we just hand delivered our first donation to Foodlink courtesy of our We-Cycle Donation Program. Since the inception of the program, Sunnking has completed 11 successful collection events in Monroe County and recycled almost half a million lbs. of electronics which has made it possible for us to donate $4,634.57 dollars to Foodlink!
The We-Cycle Donation Program began in March in anticipation of the approval of the New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling And Reuse Act. This law, which went into effect on April 1, 2011, requires manufacturers of electronic equipment to provide convenient and free collection and recycling of electronics. The kickoff collection event for the We-Cycle Donation Program was with Foodlink themselves. After a successful first event, Sunnking then teamed up with Pick Up The Parks, Seneca Park Zoo, Scottsville, Churchville, Roberts Wesleyan College, Penfield, East Rochester, Spencerport/Ogden, 13WHAM/Zeller, and Rush. Our first donation of almost $5,000 dollars to Foodlink wouldn’t have been possible without these successful collection events in Monroe County.
Every year Foodlink rescues and redistributes over 11 million pounds of food to a network of 450 member agencies in a 10-county area in Central and Western New York. Foodlink strives to build a community free of hunger with a sustainable regional food system; their ultimate goal is that every individual has access to nutritious and substantial food while possessing skills to lead healthy, productive lives.
