Town of Penfield October 29th Electronics Recycling Event

Town of PenfieldThe Town of Penfield and its Energy and Environmental Advisory Committee are providing three free opportunities for residents to dispose of unwanted household items,  recycle old electronics and destroy confidential personal documents.

The annual Fall Drop-Off runs Thursday, Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Penfield Highway Garage, 1607 Jackson Rd. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proof of residency will be checked at the gate.

Accepted items: Furniture, appliances (including refrigerators, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners), lawn mowers (fluids drained), car tires (limit four per resident), vehicle batteries, broken concrete, brush, and other unwanted items for proper disposal.

Not accepted: Televisions, PCs, monitors, grass clippings, leaves, propane tanks, chemical drums, hazardous materials, gasoline, motor oil, paint, driveway sealer or any motorized vehicle.

Residents wishing to dispose of TVs, PCs, monitors and other devices may do so at a separate electronics recycling event Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. run by Sunnking Electronics at the Penfield Highway Garage. There is no fee for electronics recycling.

Residents are encouraged to bring electronics such as laptops & desktops, computer accessories, TV’s & monitors, audio/video equipment, mp3 players, communications equipment, servers & IT equipment, printers & scanners, copiers & fax machines, cell phones & PDA’s, medical/lab equipment, and basically anything else with a circuit board or cord!

Also, on Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penfield Highway Garage, residents may bring confidential documents to an “identify protection” station for secure destruction by Cascade Recovery, which will also accept non-confidential regular paper and newspaper for general recycling.
