Register As An Electronics Collection Site

An "electronic waste collection site" is a fixed or temporary site at which electronic waste is accepted from consumers and temporarily stored for before such waste is transported to an electronic waste consolidation facility or electronic waste recycling facility (Sunnking). Electronic waste collection sites include, but are not limited to, dedicated sites and facilities for the acceptance of electronic waste, retail stores and outlets, municipal or private electronic waste collection sites and not-for-profit donation sites that have agreed to accept electronic waste.

In order for a business/organization to sign up to accept electronics for recycling as a registered Sunnking “collection site” the following criteria must be met:

  • A one-time registration form for Electronics Waste Collection Sites, Consolidation Facilities and Recycling Facilities must be submitted to the DEC 30 days prior to receiving electronic waste. (note: only “consolidation facilities” are required to pay a registration fee) Download Here.
     
  • A Sunnking Electronics Recycling Collection Site Service Agreement must be completed and signed. Contact Sunnking today!
     
  • Electronic waste must be stored in a fully enclosed building with a roof, floor and walls, or in a secure container (e.g., package or vehicle). 
     
  • Electronic waste must be removed from the collection site within one year of the waste's receipt at the collection site. The site must maintain records demonstrating compliance with this requirement.
     
  • Comply with the e-waste disposal ban. Beginning April 1, 2011, owners/operators of electronic waste collection sites in the state may not dispose of electronic waste at a solid waste management facility or hazardous waste management facility, or place electronic waste for collection which is intended for disposal at a solid waste management facility or hazardous waste management facility.
     
  • Electronics and equipment must be packaged for safe transport. (View our Proper E-Scrap Packaging video).

  • Assistance completing the DEC registration form.
  • Free supplies for packaging e-scrap/e-waste for safe transport (pallets, gaylord containers, shrink wrap, labels).
  • Free pickup of packaged e-scrap/e-waste (minimum pallet pickup required based on service agreement).
  • Monthly reporting of e-scrap/e-waste recycled.
  • Monthly Certificate of Recycling & Destruction.
  • Annual Report for Electronic Waste Collection/Consolidation Sites completed and provided to DEC.
