The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) is the private, non-profit trade association that is the "Voice of the Recycling Industry." Based in Washington, D.C., ISRI represents more than 1,600 private, for-profit companies that process, broker, and industrially consume scrap commodities, including ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, electronics, rubber, plastics, glass, and textiles.

Each year, environmental conferences, seminars, and workshops pertaining to businesses take place, and NYSAR plays an active role in helping to plan these conferences to promote materials reuse, waste reduction and recycling. NYSAR's Legislative committee works on issues in New York State relating to your business and the environment and in the past has been an influence in securing funding for Recycling Education and had an influence in setting up the Scrap Tire Recycling Initiative.
