Sunnking Hosts Free Electronics Recycling Collection for Lake George Area

BOLTON LANDING, NY (April 18, 2011) – Almost everyone has an old TV, computer, printer, cell phone or other gadgets lurking about the house or office hoping to stay out of the trash. Sunnking, Inc., the Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations and The Sagamore Resort are offering Lake George area residents and small businesses a chance to recycle their old, used, or broken electronics for free.

Sunnking, a well-established electronics recycling company, will be hosting this free collection event in conjunction with the Federation’s annual Solid Waste  Conference and Trade Show on May 2, from 1–5 p.m. in the parking lot of The Sagamore Resort (110 Sagamore Road, Bolton Landing, NY 12814). 

“This event allows conference attendees to see how an eScrap collection works in practice and gives back to a great local community that’s probably underserved,” said Meg Morris, Chair of the Federation. “Sunnking can offer local residents and businesses peace of mind in knowing all data storage components are securely destroyed and materials are recycled responsibly.”

Items accepted at no charge will include: laptops, desktops, computer accessories, TVs, monitors, audio/video equipment, mp3 players, communications equipment, servers & IT equipment, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, PDAs, medical/lab equipment and any item with a circuit board.

This year’s Federation conference begins May 1 and continues through noon May 4 marking the twelfth year it has been held at The Sagamore. Last year, over 600 participants were registered from New York, other northeast states, Canada and Europe.  The Federation is the umbrella organization for the NYS Association for Reduction, Reuse & Recycling, the NYS Association for Solid Waste Management and the Solid Waste Association of North America - NYS Chapter.

The timing of the Federation’s conference and electronics recycling collection event corresponds with the April 1 enactment of the NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act, which requires electronics manufacturers to provide a convenient way to recycle/reuse electronic equipment in a responsible manner.
