Town/Village of East Rochester Hosts CleenSweep & GreenER Recycle Day

EAST ROCHESTER, NY (May 16, 2011) – The Town/Village of East Rochester and the East Rochester Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their 4th annual CleanSweep & GreenER Recycle Day event to clean up the village and promote green behavior. The event will be held on May 21 from 9 am till 12 noon.

“Our goal is to have more than 200 volunteers from the community help clean up the Town and Village,” said Lauren Burns, managing member/owner of Bonadio Payroll Services, LLC. “If volunteers are interested in cleaning a certain block, we encourage them to pre-register for the event by visiting the East Rochester Chamber of Commerce Web site, www.erchamber.org.  This will help ensure volunteers are assigned to their preferred area.  However, it is not necessary to pre-register, and we will accept all volunteers who arrive at the Town/Village Hall on the morning of the event.”

Volunteers will meet at the Town/Village Hall at 9 am before breaking off into teams to clean the streets.  All volunteers will receive a neon orange t-shirt for the event in addition to bags, pails, and gloves to assist them in cleaning the streets. After the event, all volunteers will be provided with pizza and refreshments at the Town/Village Hall. Refreshments are donated by the following businesses, Wegman's Food and Pharmacy, Tim Horton's, Despatch Pizza Kitchen, Chris' Village Way Pizza, Salvatore's, Surace's and Mark's Pizzeria.

The GreenER committee is also sponsoring a computer and electronics recycling event for residents and small businesses during the same time as the CleanSweep from 9 am to 12 noon in the East Rochester Town/Village Hall parking lot behind the Library. Recycling will be provided by Sunnking Electronics Recycling and there is no charge for this service. Electronics being collected include computers, laptops, modems, servers, peripherals, GPS units, cell phones, fax machines, copiers, CD players, and IT equipment. For a complete list of acceptable materials for recycling please visit www.sunnking.com/acceptable-materials/. Paper shredding and document destruction will also be provided by J. C. Fibers, Inc.
