Rhythm Robotics is the first LEGO League team formed at the Frederick Douglass R-Center in the heart of Rochester, NY. They're bringing high-impact STEM opportunities directly to local youth. Designed for kids ages 9 to 14, the team-based robotics program teaches students how to build, code, and problem-solve while also instilling values of teamwork, inclusion, and community-focused thinking.
As an R2v3-certified electronics recycling and IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company, Sunnking is committed to more than just environmental sustainability. We're passionate about using refurbished technology to support education, digital equity, and innovation—especially in underserved communities.
Earlier this year, the Rhythm Robotics team reached out after discovering our work in electronics reuse and refurbished tech sales.
Their mission was clear: equip their students with entry-level gaming laptops powerful enough to run beginner-friendly coding software, game design programs, and even support introductory e-sports applications.
In response, our team at Sunnking got to work sourcing refurbished laptops that met their performance needs. We were proud to donate some of the devices the team had planned to purchase, a contribution totaling over $1,500 in value. This donation helps ensure these students have access to reliable technology that fuels hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving.
Bridging the Digital Divide with Reused Tech
This partnership is a strong example of how refurbished electronics can support both sustainability and social impact. Rather than ending up in landfills, these laptops are now empowering the next generation of coders, engineers, and innovators.
By supporting programs like Rhythm Robotics, Sunnking continues to advance its mission of supporting community development, STEM education, and environmental responsibility through technology reuse.
We’re inspired by what this team is doing and proud to be a small part of their journey.
Good luck in the upcoming tournaments—we’ll be cheering you on!
