At Sunnking, our mission relies on two principles: to do more for our planet and to do it smarter. With the rapid growth in electronics use worldwide the challenge of managing electronic waste sustainably has never been greater. We recognized that scaling our operations wouldn’t just be about increasing volume; it was about increasing it responsibly to ensure our processes remain as environmentally sustainable as possible. That’s why we’re excited to announce a significant upgrade that helps us do exactly that — processing more e-waste with less environmental impact.

Before we got the UNTHA RS100 our operations relied on a dual-shaft shredder that processed around 10 tons of e-waste daily. While this equipment was robust, it came with limitations. Shredding took longer than we wanted, and to keep pace, other machines in our system were pushed to their limits. This inefficiency slowed down overall throughput and increased energy consumption. When we set out to enhance our capacity, we searched for a solution that would save time and money while minimizing our environmental footprint and reducing the burden on our other equipment.

That’s where the UNTHA RS100 Shredder comes in. This cutting-edge shredder is a game-changer for Sunnking. It has enabled us to significantly increase our recycling capacity, process materials more efficiently, and reduce emissions. The technology behind the RS100 has transformed the way we manage electronic waste — allowing us to recycle faster, smarter, and greener than ever before.

Our Director of Sustainability, Kali Smith, highlights the impact perfectly:

“When it comes to sustainability, the ultimate goal is maximizing production while minimizing emissions. Since we’ve incorporated the UNTHA RS100, our output has increased dramatically with only a very small rise in emissions. That’s the ideal balance — higher productivity with less environmental impact.”

This balance has been a crucial factor in our decision to invest in the UNTHA RS100 shredder. Our commitment to sustainability and supporting the circular economy remains stronger than ever, and this technology aligns perfectly with those values. Since installing the RS100, our carbon intensity — including emissions from production — has decreased by more than 12%. That means we’re producing a lot more while using energy just as efficiently as before, a rare achievement in industrial operations.

Beyond efficiency and sustainability, we now produce higher-quality shredded material. That’s a big deal because it means we can supply refiners with more premium-grade commodities, closing the loop on recycled electronic materials and supporting a broader circular economy. This shredder will continue to boost our capacity, allowing us to accept and process even more materials, and ultimately reach more communities with our recycling services.

Our new recycling capacity has also introduced what our team calls “positive problems” — challenges born out of success. Phil Bove, our Director of Business Development, explains:

“Before we invested in this shredder, we struggled with throughput limits — simply not having enough time to shred all the material coming in. Now, the challenge is the opposite: we have the capacity and capability to process more, but we need to find enough material to keep up. From a business development perspective, that’s a great problem to have.”

This shift means Sunnking can confidently expand its intake, making an even bigger impact on e-waste reduction while continuing to deliver excellent service to partners and communities.

Innovations like the UNTHA RS100 keep Sunnking at the forefront of the electronics recycling industry. We’re not just increasing volume; we’re doing it in a way that stays true to our core values — prioritizing environmental responsibility, efficiency, and community impact.

We’re also proud to share that UNTHA recently featured our team — Kali, Phil, Juan, and Peter — in a video spotlight showcasing this powerful technology in action. It’s a showcase of how far we’ve come and the exciting path ahead.
